IRIS is developed for inspecting vehicles using a handheld
device (e.g. HP IPAQ) instead of handwritten forms. The system eliminates the needs to physically
submit the forms to the head office and re-key or encode the data.
The inspection information is either generated on the handheld device or comes from a server
(using LAN or Internet connection). The information entered on the handheld device can be sent back
to the server at some point. It is exchanged via the FTP-protocol using XML files.
In IRIS, the integrated camera of handheld device is used to take pictures of specific
damages to a vehicle. The pictures are shown as an evidence for the specific damage. You can
capture a signature of both the operator and the contractor/site manager using IRIS.
