What is dedicated resource hiring? How does it work?
Full time dedicated resource hiring offers you with employees who will work full time on "contract for hire" basis for you. The arrangement is simply like a team of people working for you outside your office. We can help you recruit from our own team of programmers or you can choose to have a completely new team.

Once you have the team in place, they will be directly reporting to you. You can instruct them and manage the project by yourself. The best benefit that you are getting is that you do not have to worry about the infrastructure as they will work for you from our office.

How beneficial is a dedicated resource arrangement compared to outsourcing on fixed price basis?
For a project where you have a continuous requirement and a clear idea of what you want, a dedicated resource arrangement is the lowest priced option, since there is no reason for your software service provider to keep a "buffer" in the quote to manage time and task overrun risk.


What benefits do I get from a dedicated resource arrangement?
A team of professionally dedicated resources will work for you like an extension of your office. You have a team that is always available for your project even at short notice. This is often vital in cases where your customers or users come back with urgent change requests that need to be implemented under time pressure. You have direct control over the project and the team will directly report to you

In a dedicated resource engagement, you get the services of a dedicated team or person. The biggest benefit is the fact that as the dedicated resource(s) works on your application and they gradually build up specialized knowledge about it. This helps them to come out with suggestions for improvement, and also increases their productivity as time passes.

Another benefit in a dedicated resource arrangement is the IP protection you get for your software. A dedicated resource agreement is a "work for hire" agreement, and hence all Intellectual Property developed by your team in India belongs exclusively to you. You get the infrastructural facilities of a software development company at minimum cost and also the security and confidentiality of your information is ensured by the company.



THE PROCESS

What is the procedure to initiate a project using dedicated resource model? How soon can I start off?
The procedure is quite simple. On sending us a request at info@daffodildb.com with your requirement specifications, our Business Development Team will get back to you within 1 business day. Once both parties are convinced about the partnership, we can start off immediately. The time span between our contract and project start up could be between 7-10 working days.


Do I get a Pilot (trial) Period of your dedicated resource services?
Yes, we offer a 7-15 days pilot period to test our services. You are required to pay at the end of the trial only if you are satisfied with our services during the trail period and wish to continue working with us. Once you are satisfied we can enter into a full fledged contract.


Will I be able to hire more employees at a later stage?
Yes, you can hire additional resources anytime.


Who will be managing the dedicated resource? Me or a project manager?
In dedicated resource model, the resources are managed by you to the extent of task assignment for the entire month (180 working hours) and rest of the project management is done by a project manager for whom we typically do not charge the client. However, if you wish to manage your project yourself then you are welcome to do the same.


What if my dedicated resource goes on leave?
At the beginning of our business relationship we share with you our yearly holiday calendar so that you are aware of the upcoming local holidays in advance. As a standard company policy if a developer requires certain days of leave from work then they are required to take prior permission from their respective manager, at least 4-5 days in advance. There is a project manager associated with every dedicated resource, who understands your project very well and can easily take up the job with some shadow resource available on bench. This way the work will not suffer even if your dedicated resource goes on leave.


What can you do if the hired employee leaves? If we are providing a replacement how do we help in knowledge transfer?
Our policies ensure that employees serve a minimum of one month notice before they resign. This gives us ample time to put in a competent replacement. We also ensure that a smooth transition and knowledge transfer happens. The process becomes all the more easy due to the presence of the project lead that is always associated with a dedicated resource. He can smoothly take up the job under his guidance with the new resources.



RISKS 'n' RESPONSIBILITIES

What are the risks that I might have to face? How do you offer to mitigate these risks?
When you hire a small team of one or two people, the risk is that the knowledge is fully in the hands of these two people. This concentration of information might become a problem. To avoid this, we assign a project lead to every team of dedicated resources, who will guide and monitor the work of the team. This way he will be having complete knowledge about your project and can take over the project with help of shadow resources in case of any contingency. The major advantage you have here is that you get the skills of two resources at the cost of one.

In this arrangement the project management is vested with you and you will have to make full utilization of your resource. If sufficient work is not assigned to your hired employee you'll be paying for idle time which will be a loss for you. To help you manage your hired employee better, we assign Account Manager to your project who will keep you informed about the work progress. If (s)he finds that you are not fully utilizing the time of the employees, (s)he will give you timely alerts.


What are my rights regarding source code, copyright, intellectual property etc?
All rights regarding the project will lie with you. The arrangement is such that we are party in providing you with people who will work directly under you. This gives you the sole ownership of source code, intellectual property, copyright etc. To safeguard your rights further we sign IP Agreement and an NDA before starting any new relationship.


What if the employees need training? Who will bear the training costs?
Daffodil Software will bear the costs if any training regarding the basic software languages is needed. If any new language or skill is to be acquired by the programmer for your specific requirement, then you will have to bear the cost for the learning curve.



SECURITY

What security measures do you undertake to ensure protection of client’s IP?
All our employees are full time employees and are bound by the Non-Disclosure recruitment contract. We restrict the access to client information to limited number of people and employ high level security systems to their workstations. In addition, our networks are secured via firewalls and antivirus software, and we keep backups of all the data on our servers to protect against hardware failure or virus attacks.

Will your company be responsible for the people I hire from you?
Yes. All the people you hire on a dedicated resource arrangement are bound by contract to follow the company's policies regarding Intellectual Property, security, leave and other aspects that may affect your work.


How do you ensure employee credibility?
All employees are recruited into the organization through tested methods of capability and integrity evaluation. Multiple reference checks are done before recruiting any employee. While entering into projects, all the employees who will be involved in the projects are required to sign internal confidentiality agreements. Furthermore most of our employees are under a minimum work agreement of 1.5 years to work with us.



COMMUNICATION

How the communication does take place?
We use the following methods to ensure smooth communication between you and the developer:

a. IM chat ids, email id and phone numbers of the resources working on your project are provided to you

b. On requirement basis we often use screen sharing programs like VNC, MS Remote Desktop, GoToMeeting and WebEx

c. At least a two hour time zone overlap between your team and our team.

d. All Project Leads carry mobile phones so they are accessible almost 24 hours a day for discussing any urgent issues
e. In addition to all these we also have weekly tele-conferences and continuous communication by using IM chat windows.


Whom do I contact if I have any grievances regarding the hiring arrangement?
We will provide you with the contact details of our VP-Technical and Sales & Marketing Head. You can directly contact them if you have any grievance.


Will I get a daily update on the tasks performed?
We usually provide weekly updates to the client but based on project requirement this can be reduced to daily updates as well.

COMMERCIALS

What are the costs and how do I pay you?
The cost for the team depends on the type of person and the experience that you require. A typical 1-3 yrs experienced programmer will cost $2400 per person per month. The payment is done on monthly basis in advance every month.

Will there be an increase in costs in the long run?
Barring yearly increments to cover up the increasing employee cost we do not have any hidden costs in our services, even in the long run.


Will the costs remain standard for employees with different skill sets like PHP, ASP etc?
The costs will remain the same for employees of all basic skill sets; however specialized and newer skills might be charged differently.



FLEXIBILITY

What if the arrangement does not work well?
If you ever find any problem in the dedicated resource arrangement you can immediately bring it to the notice of your Account Manager. We will take immediate steps to rectify the issues being faced by you.


Will I be able to shift to Fixed Price based contract if I am not happy with dedicated resource arrangement?
Yes, there is always a flexibility to shift from the dedicated resource model to the fixed price model.


What happens if I am unhappy with the employee?
If at any time you feel unhappy with the work of the programmer, you can notify the issue to your Account Manager. We will take up the responsibility of giving you a replacement.




TERMS & CONDITIONS

What are the conditions for terminating the contract?
The terms of terminating the contract will be specified in the initial contract that we will sign.


What are the conditions regarding terminating hired employees?
If you are unhappy with the employee and do not want him to work for you, you can notify your Account Manager and we will take immediate steps to take him off the project and provide you with a replacement ASAP.

Dedicated resource arrangement is best when you are looking to either augment your existing team, have a large project that requires dedicated staff, or if you have a steady stream of maintenance and enhancements requirements for your software product.


How will working with Daffodil Software be cheaper?
A typical US based programmer is currently paid in the range of $70,000/year to $80,000/year. In addition to the salary, every company has to make other statutory payments for each employee. In addition, for each role, there will be other infrastructure costs such as hardware, software, utility and space costs that get added as overheads.

Thus for a programmer who earns a salary of $80,000/year in US the total cost to the company is approximately in the range of $100,000/year.

On the whole, a year long project by your programmer in the US (costing you about $100,000) can be completed by a team in India, and at an approximate total cost of $25,000, thus giving you a 75% cost benefit.

What service level agreements and guarantees do you offer?
Before the commencement of the project, we sign a Services Contract that details the responsibilities of each party, the deliverables, pricing, complaint handling mechanisms and delivery schedule of the projects.


How do you ensure that quality standards are followed?
