In this phase, the project is planned following various steps, which are as follows:
- Development of a backlog list.
- Description of the delivery date and functionality of one or more releases.
- Selection of the release that is most appropriate for immediate development.
- Mapping of the objects for backlog items in the selected release.
- Description of project team(s) for the building of new release.
- Assessment of risk and adequate risk controls.
- Review and possible adjustment of backlog items.
- Validation of development tools and infrastructure.
- Estimation of release cost, including development, material, marketing, training, and rollout.
- Verification of management approval and funding.
